The company prepares ship tanks and holds for inspection, repair and recoating. Scope ranges from sludge removal and washdown to full grit blasting to the surface grade required by the coating system. Work is planned with the master, class surveyor and coating manufacturer to keep the drydock schedule intact.

Ballast tanks and void spaces

Preparation of ballast tanks and adjacent void spaces for survey, steel renewal and PSPC coating.

  • Mud and sediment removal
  • Freshwater and chemical washing
  • Mechanical descaling of plating
  • Edge grinding and weld treatment

Cargo tanks

Cleaning of cargo oil and chemical tanks to the standard required by the next cargo or repair scope.

  • Pre wash, hot wash and rinsing
  • Sludge collection and disposal coordination
  • Gas freeing to safe entry levels
  • Atmosphere monitoring before hot work

Cargo holds and dry bulk spaces

Hold cleaning between cargoes and ahead of structural inspection or recoating.

  • Sweep, washdown and drying
  • Tank top and frame cleaning

Surface preparation handover

Final preparation of cleaned surfaces to the grade specified by the coating manufacturer and PSPC.

  • Grit blasting to Sa 2.5
  • Profile and dust level checks
  • Soluble salt testing
  • Direct handover to coating crew
