Funnel extension and seven unit scrubber retrofits.

Two featured Ro/Ro passenger projects executed for the same operator. Each programme covers funnel extension by height and breadth, removal of original exhaust ducting, prefabrication of new ducts in factory and onboard installation of seven scrubber units.

Programme overview.

Both vessels received funnel extension and a full set of seven exhaust gas scrubber units, plus complete renewal of main engine and generator engine exhaust ducting. Prefabrication was performed at the NAVEP factory and final installation at dockside.

Blue Star Delos. Ro/Ro Passenger

Funnel extension and installation of scrubber units. Steel works completed in factory and onboard.

  • Funnel extension: height 2,000 mm, breadth 845 mm, port and starboard
  • Funnel extension prefabricated from Grade A steel in factory
  • Removed all original exhaust ducts: 4 main engine pieces, 3 generator engine pieces
  • New main engine exhaust ducts in 6 mm Corten steel plates, A 588 material
  • New exhaust ducts for generator engines and one boiler line
  • Installed 7 exhaust gas scrubber systems for main and generator engines

Superfast XI. Ro/Ro Passenger

Funnel extension, forward shift and installation of scrubber units. Aluminum prefabrication for the funnel extension.

  • Funnel extension: height 3,000 mm, breadth 700 mm, port and starboard
  • Funnel moved 6 metres forward along the vessel
  • New funnel extension prefabricated using Aluminum Alloy H111 5083
  • Removed all old exhaust ducts: 4 main engine, 3 generator engine pieces
  • New main engine exhaust ducts in 6 mm and 8 mm Corten steel plates, A 588 material
  • New generator engine exhaust ducts
  • Installed 7 scrubber units, factory fabrication and onboard installation
